The CEIE Department Welcomes Dr. Laura Kosoglu This Fall

Laura Kosoglu

CEIE is pleased to welcome Dr. Laura Kosoglu to the CEIE Department this fall. Dr. Kosoglu is a geotechnical engineer whose Ph.D. research at Virginia Tech focused on the study of factors that influence clay behavior for time-dependent processes such as secondary compression, shear deformation, and fault dynamics behavior. She has also conducted research on the use of geofoam to reduce lateral earth pressures on retaining walls as well as on the integration of dispersed nano-iron slurries with electrokinetics to remediate soils. She brings to the classroom her geotechnical consulting experience as well as her work as a water resources engineer. Dr. Kosoglu is teaching Water Resources Engineering (CEIE 340) and Sustainable Land Development (CEIE 401) this fall, and she will teach Foundation Design (CEIE 431), Hydraulics (CEIE 230), and Water Resources Engineering (CEIE 340) this Spring.
