The new civil engineering teaching laboratory officially opened on November 8. Provost Stearns and Dean Ball stressed how essential the contributions of companies and individuals have been to its creation. CEIE Chair Deborah Goodings described the importance of the lab to CEIE students’ education to enhance classroom learning with hands-on experience using the completely new array of equipment. The lab expands opportunities for independent study, for extracurricular activities such as ASCE and EfID, and for underpinning graduate research with experimental components. Integration of the new lab into the formal curriculum begin in spring 2013, and the lab will be fully integrated by fall, 2013.
