CEIE alumni networked and reconnected at the 2012 CEIE Alumni Dinner on Friday, April 20. Alumni viewed the wall of CEIE program graduates, recalling former classmates and enjoying the photos of the 2009 to present graduates whose forever-young faces adorn the department hallway. They were introduced to the plans for new CEIE laboratory under construction in summer 2012, and ready for students in fall, 2012. Alumni were then treated to two presentations, the first by Sean Kennedy, a principal at BEI Structural Engineers, who was deployed as a member of the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team to Japan in 2011 after their devastating 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, and to two major earthquakes in Haiti in 2010 and 2008. The GMU Engineers for International Development students followed with a description of their two water projects in Peru, one in the high Andes and the other in the Amazon. Having completed their assigned lectures, alumni relaxed over dinner in the Nguyen Engineering Building atrium.
