Dr. Arciszewski’s Recent Activities and Research Talks

Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski is a corresponding member of the ASCE (National) International Activities Committee (IAC). He has just been appointed to serve on the IAC Policy Review Subcommittee for the coming year. The mission of the subcommittee is to review the ASCE global policy and eventually to recommend changes.

On October 7, Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski gave a talk on “Consciousness: Seven Approaches” during the inaugural Faculty Development Brown Bag seminar series organized by the GMU Center for Consciousness and Transformation. The talk was transmitted by the GMU TV and also recorded and should become soon available on a DVD.

Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski at conference in PortugalOn September 2, 2009, Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski gave an invited lecture with Dr. Catherine Harrison (A visiting professor in the CEIE Department and Chief, Cognitive Neuroscience Section, Air Force Research Laboratory, Dayton, Ohio) on “Visual Thinking in Inventive Design: Three Perspectives” during the First International Conference on Soft Computing in Civil and Structural Engineering. The conference took place in Madeira, Portugal, and was attended by approximately 350 people. Their paper has been also published as a chapter in a book appropriately titled “Soft Computing in Civil and Structural Engineering” and published by Saxe-Coburg Publications, UK.
