Milton V. Peterson is the Principal of The Peterson Companies, one of the largest real estate development companies in the Washington and Mid-Atlantic regions. The Peterson Companies has developed 35,000 residential lots, and developed, acquired, managed and leased more than 10 million square feet of retail, hotel and office space in Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland, including National Harbor, Fair Lakes, Burke Center, Washingtonian and Downtown Silver Spring. For the last 40 years he has witnessed and been a major player in shaping both the economy and community of our region. Mr. Peterson has served on the Board of Directors of numerous financial, community, business and education organizations and served over sixteen years under four Governor’s Economic Advisory Boards. Additionally, he chaired and served eight years on the Fairfax Economic Development Authority. The Urban Land Institute honored Mr. Peterson in 2003 with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to the real estate industry and in 2006 he received the Trendsetter of the Year Award at the Washington Trend Lines Event. In 2008 he was inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame.
