Michael Loulakis is nationally recognized for his expertise in design-build, and the Design-Build Institute of America recognized him with the Brunelleschi Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. Mr. Loulakis has played a leading role on some of the most visible and challenging design-build and public-private partnership (P3) projects in the US. He is the founder of Capital Project Strategies, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in providing procurement, contracting, risk management and contract administration advice to those involved in the construction of both public and private sector projects. Prior to forming Capital Project Strategies, Mr. Loulakis had a 28-year career with Wickwire Gavin, where he served as president and chairman. Mr. Loulakis served as a board member for eight years of the Design-Build Institute of America and had principal responsibility for drafting the DBIA Contracting Guide and DBIA’s standard form design-build contracts and subcontracts. His leadership in the practice of law related to construction provides the basis for his teaching construction law in CEIE since 2011.
