High-achieving George Mason students in the B.S.-CIE program may apply for the accelerated B.S./M.S. in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering program if they wish to complete an M.S. in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at GMU immediately after completion of their B.S. Students are eligible for this program if they have earned 90 undergraduate credits with an overall GPA of at least 3.30. Students who have not yet finished 90 credits may be accepted provisionally subject to satisfactory completion of 90 credits.
Further application information is available here.
An accelerated B.S./M.Eng. degree is not available, although all M.Eng. courses are open to CEIE M.S. students.
Degree Requirements: Accelerated B.S./M.S. students must complete 144 credit hours that satisfy both the requirements for the B.S.-CIE program and those for the M.S.-CIE program. Students register for six credit hours of CEIE graduate courses at the 5xx-level or 6xx-level in place of 4xx-level undergraduate senior technical elective courses – these courses count toward both the B.S. and the M.S. degrees. The graduate 5xx-level or 6xx-level courses selected for this purpose must be approved by the student’s academic adviser and must be selected to form the foundation of an M.S. specialization.
Degree Conferral: Students in the accelerated B.S.-CIE / M.S.-CIE program may apply to have the B.S.-CIE degree conferred during the semester in which they expect to complete the B.S.-CIE requirements. The Masters degree will be granted upon completion of the M.S.-CIE requirements.
